Description

A nice pair of early war German 10x50 range-fining binoculars from a desirable maker. The 10x50 was one of the most widely used binoculars in World War II. The right barrel is marked:

Ernst Leitz GmbH of Wetzlar Germany is a storied producer of optical devices such as telescopes, microscopes, binoculars, and cameras. It exists today as the four different branches of the LEICA company, named for the first three letters of Leitz and the first two of Camera. The binoculars are missing their case and carry strap. Pease see below for condition.
The binoculars remain in fair condition, showing signs of age, use, and wear. The eye cup on the left barrel has a large piece missing from it. The same barrel, when looking through the barrel from either end, shows a large chip in the glass. When viewing, this shows up in the 10 O'clock position. The lenses may show some signs of light surface abrasion, or spotting - typically seen with binoculars that have been without their case for a long time. The textured wrap on the barrels show quite a bit of wear, with separation, tears, or missing pieces - please see the pictures for more detail.
