Vintage Plumb Au-to graf Tools Carpenter Hatchet

Vintage Plumb Au-to graf Tools Carpenter Hatchet. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. The wood grain in this handle is beautiful, pics don't do it justice. The best I can describe it is it looks like the back of a fiddle or violin, "Fiddle Back Maple" as it is called, or Curly Maple. I believe the actual wood used on these was Hickory, however, this is the most unique grain pattern I have seen on an original, factory handle. Which may be a clue as to why someone "MODDED" the head? It appears that whom ever did the "mod" to the head was careful not to overheat and lose the temper in the edge as it holds a fine, long lasting edge. I sealed the handle with three coats of gym floor finish with steel wool between each coat, being aware of the Au-tograf Tools sticker, it is exactly as found still. Overall length.....13"...Blade to poll 6 1/2"....Blade Edge 2 11/16", original "Permabond" still in the eye. The hammer poll looks to be barely used, no mushrooming at all. Gorgeous wall hanger or use it, head is rock solid to the haft (handle). Ships to the lower 48 ONLY, non smoking/ pet free home.
