MORTIMER SNERD VENT PUPPET–PERFECT & BERGEN'S BETTER BUBBLE GUM 1¢ WRAPPER– 1930'S
These are two originals items are ready for you! The Mortimer Snerd tag board ventriloquist puppet includes the paper original mailing wrapper showing he was sent from Chase & Sanborn of New York. The Chase and Sanborn Hour was on the radio in the 1930's. Edger Bergen (the renowned ventriloquist at that time), performed with his pal, Charlie McCarthy and Mortimer Snerd was Charlie's partner in comedy while Bergen pulled both their strings!
Mortimer has a hinged cardboard control on the back that allows his eyes and jaws to move. Mortimer is approximately 18 3/4" tall and is wearing overalls, a plaid shirt, boots and a straw hat.  He has a fold at the waist area to allow him to extend to his full height. Mortimer Snerd marked on the front under the fold with LITHO IN USA. Mortimer has never been used or tried out. He is unused. I merely took him out to shoot the images. The colors are bright as if you went back in time and opened this package up in the 1930's! I can't list him as new because he was made in the 1930's. You can see, he's really nice!
You're going to be the first to actually play with this little guy! The outer envelope is approximately 8 1/2"  by 15 1/4".  It was posted from Chase and Sanborn in New York by US Mail. The only marking on the envelope is where a label might have been originally. Other than that, it is fine. Great condition.
AS FOR THE BERGEN'S BETTER BUBBLE GUM WRAPPER…. It was one of the favorites among the kids and adults who say in front of the radio to listen to the antics the Bergen could come up with for his two wooden pals. The wrapper looks good and it is an original too. it looks as good as you see it in this listing. It's a great bonus to include with Mortimer!
