About the MojoAxe CWT Compensated Wraparound Tailpiece
The MojoAxe CWT wraparound tailpiece is a modern replacement for the original Gibson lightweight wraparound bridge.  It features an offset ridge which results in near-perfect intonation compensation.  Unlike adjustable saddle type wraparound bridges which are heavy and made up of more than a dozen individual parts, the MojoAxe CWT bridge puts one solid piece of tempered aluminum between the strings and the studs for maximum tone and sustain.
The simplistic design of the original 1950’s aluminum wraparound bridge is part of what makes the old Juniors, Specials, and Goldtops so magical, however it’s impossible to properly intonate the guitar with this bridge.  The MojoAxe CWT bridge is designed to maintain the looks and tonal characteristics of the original 1950’s Gibson tailpiece, but adds to it a carefully designed offset saddle line that compensates for intonation with 3-wound/3-plain string sets.
In addition to intonation issues, another problem common with the original 1950s bridge is a sitar like buzz which is the due to the string vibrating against the soft ridge at the peak of the bridge.  The MojoAxe CWT bridge has a crisp ridge along the saddle line to ensure that the strings ring clearly.
The CWT tailpiece is CNC machined from high-strength aircraft-grade 7075 aluminum bar stock.  It is then is hand polished and finished with a nickel plating.  Machining is a more expensive manufacturing process than the diecast molding process that is typically used to make tailpieces, however it yields a much higher quality part which is why this process was chosen.
The CWT bridge is made to the same overall dimensions of the original Gibson stock tailpiece so it is fully compatible with the stock studs.  One exception are 1953-1954 Goldtops and Juniors which have the early thin-ear tailpiece.   On these models it is necessary to replace the studs with the type that have a larger gap.  These studs are available from MojoAxe.
The CWT tailpiece is compatible with all wraparound-bridge Gibson guitars which have mounting studs offset at an angle.  Guitars which have the studs positioned even to each other (1960's style) will require a “lightning bolt” style compensated tailpiece  (see comparison photo).  See my other eBay listing for the MojoAxe CWT60 "lightning bolt" bridge which is compatible with these models.  If there is any question as to which bridge is correct for your guitar, please feel free to contact me.
This listing is for the CWT-A “aged” version of the CWT bridge.  The aging consists of tarnishing of the nickel finish.  If you prefer the look of a highly polished “un-aged” bridge, please see my other listing for the MojoAxe CWT-UA.
