Custom Vintage Norlund Tomahawk Axe with Authentic Norlund Sheath
This auction is for an authentic Norlund axe hatchet on a custom White Ash haft with genuine leather sheath.
The Norlund head was thoroughly cleaned and polished. The cheeks to the pole were coated with metallic copper enamel.
A custom, curvy White Ash haft was carved and sanded smooth. The grain was flamed and coated with boiled linseed oil and genuine Odie’s Oil.
The head and haft were hand fit tight together. A Birch wedge, coated with boiled linseed oil and Titebond Ultimate, was driven into the kerf. The top eye was cut proud approximately 3/16”, shaped and sanded smooth.
This custom axe will come with a genuine Norlund leather sheath, as shown in photos. The sheath was cleaned with saddle soap and sealed with genuine SNO-SEAL. The leather is supple and still in great shape, despite it’s age.
Total length from top of eye to bottom of haft is 9”. Total weight is approximately 1 lb 4 oz.
